About Us

Chef and Proprietor Frank Cannizzaro has been a professional chef for the past 15 years. He graduated with honors in 1994 from Johnson & Wales University, in Providence, Rhode Island with degrees in culinary and food service management.

Chef Frank has been working in the food service industry since the age of 15.  Over the years, he held chef titles at Candleworks Restaurant in New Bedford MA, Cataldi's Restaurant, in Hanson, MA. and White on White Catering in Quincy MA.  He opened his first restaurant at 26 years old in Middleboro MA.  Frank’s Café and Coffee House was a small, 30 seat café serving breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, catering to the local town's people for 3 years before he started the venture of opening a full-service dinner restaurant.  The Mockingbird Restaurant and Martini Lounge, was established in June of 2000.

Since its modest beginning, the Mockingbird Restaurant has seen major renovations to get to its current clean, contemporary, modern design and feel to fit in with Chef Frank’s personal tastes. It has been an on-going challenge over the years to take one of the town’s most run-down buildings with a long reputation of shady, failing business venture's to overcome it and transform it into what it is today.

As a Chef/Owner, Frank takes pride in providing fresh, consistent, quality food while maintaining an affordable dining experience. We cater to the local south shore families and consider our dining style to be a casual, upscale, family restaurant that offers a wide profile of flavors to fit everyone's tastes.

A couple things you should keep in mind when planning to visit us:

  • We accept reservations for parties of 4 or more, and highly recommend that you call for reservations for Friday and Saturday nights as early in the week as possible.
  • Gift Certificates are always available and can be purchased here at the restaurant or over the phone and can even be mailed for you!

  • Wednesday & Thursday: 4:30 - 9:00
  • Friday & Saturday: 4:30 - 10:00
  • Sunday: 4:00 - 9:00
  • Closed on Monday & Tuesday
